There are many historical monuments in and around in Gurgaon. How about a first hand experience this time?. If you visit Gurgaon, You must find time for a short trip to educate yourself on the history of Gurgaon and neighbouring towns. Though there are few monuments of historical importance in Gurgaon yet to ones which are worth a visit while on a trip in Gurgaon.

Monuments in Gurgaon –

Baoli (Stepwell) Ghaus Ali Shah

Women used to came ‘Bauli’ to take the water for their daily needs. They have to come down the stone stairs. Archaeological Survey of India has taken up restoration work here. The Sheesh Mahal gives a glimpse of splendour and lavishness that the Mughal rulers enjoyed in the past. This monument is also known as Baoli Ghaus Ali Shah. The Building is octagonal in shape and has been built inside Sheesh Mahal Complex.

Farrukh Nagar Fort

This is a nice place to visit for those taking keen interest in history or the more adventurous tourists. The Fort is referred to as ‘Dilli Darwaza’ also. It is located on Rohtak border in Farrukhnagar (Gurgaon), Farrukh Nagar Fort is around 22 Kms. from Gurgaon and this Fort was built by Nawab Faujdar Khan in 1732.

Pataudi Palace

This Palace has been converted into a hotel. Pataudi Palace is also known as Ibrahim Kothi and belongs to the Pataudi family. Many Bollywood films have been shot in this Palace. The Nawab of Pataudi, Iftikhar Ali Khan got it designed by Robert Tor Russel and the Palace was built by Austrian Architect Karl Most Von Heinz.

From Delhi and you have to take NH8 (Delhi-Jaipur Highway) from Gurgaon. This Palace is around 69 Kms. Once you reach Manesar, You have to take a right turn at Bilaspur Chowk and go further 9 Kilometres. Take a left turn where you see the billboard indicating Pataudi Palace. Welcome to your destination. And from Manesar it’s around 13 Kilometres away.

Aliwardi Masjid (Mosque)-

This masjid is just 2 kms. from North of Old Tehsil Office of Gurgaon and is a 200 years old Legacy of Nawab Aliwardi Khan, Founder of Aliwardi Village.
