Government is seriously promoting electric vehicles and its a big step against pollution in Gurgaon. Nitin Gadkari launched e-rickshaws in Gurgaon & targets for electric fleet comprising buses, taxis and autorickshaws will be on roads by the end of 2017.
It’s a big step to managing pollution in Gurgaon, and to provide last-mile connectivity to metro travellers in Gurgaon, Gadkari flagged off 1,000 e-autorickshaws from the Huda City Centre metro station.
Union Minister Mr. Gadkari travelled from Delhi to Gurgaon in metro.
Gadkari, for planning Rao Inderjit Singh, Delhi Metro managing director Mangu Singh and Palash Roy Chaudhary from SmartE flagged off the service.
All the E-Rickshaws are GPS enabled and will be monitored from a control room.
These E-Rickshaws will be operational from five Metro Stations in Gurgaon — Huda City Centre, IFFCO Chowk, MG Road, Sikanderpur and Guru Dronacharya, all the drivers will be verified by traffic police of Haryana and fares will be Rs. 10 for the first two kilometres and Rs 5 per KM.
