For years, Cyber City has been the commercial centrepiece of Gurgaon; thousands of people walk into work every day to devote their time, effort and knowledge to some of the biggest corporations there. After hustling all day at work, all one needs is a place to get out of the rut, have a cold one with their buddies (a.k.a. colleagues) and take a break from the 9 to 5 grind.
Cyber Hub evolved as an extension of Cyber City, and it’s difficult not to draw parallels between Gurgaon’s eating and drinking capital and Social. They burst onto the scene around the same time with the purpose of creating something iconic, and offer a space for folks to find their groove in an ever-evolving landscape and leave them hungry for more (creatively or gastronomically). Space where they can explore their dreams, where an idea becomes a startup and a startup becomes corporate.
True to its design philosophy of minimal intervention and maximum upcycling, the anti-design theme runs through Cyber Hub Social’s decor. Another exciting element that’s been added to the latest Social is the kitschy hand-painted boards and signs. What’s truly unique about Cyber Hub Social is that the interiors have drawn heavily from Mumbai’s famous Chawls – a concept many might not be familiar with, but can name many a Bollywood film set in one. Chawls were first created to house as many mill workers in one building – a space that was efficient and functional. And just like the chawl, Social has also evolved into a space that symbolizes community living – a place that stands for unity, togetherness, security, camaraderie, cultural essence and ethos.
