It has been a busy fortnight in Gurugram: a new art gallery, a three-day power strike, a flyover closure that jammed NH-48, and a run of hotel and retail openings. Here is a quick round-up of what happened in the city in October 2026.
1. Treasure of India opens with the NAVRATNA exhibition

Palam Vihar got Gurugram’s newest culture stop on 18 October. Treasure of India, a gallery of traditional and tribal Indian art founded by artist Tanisha Bakshi, opened with NAVRATNA: Indigenous Masters, curated by art historian Uma Nair. The show features nine master artisans and national awardees working in Dhokra, Gond, Sohrai, Pattachitra, Kalighat and Pichwai, and was covered by the Press Trust of India. It runs until 27 December 2026, 11 AM to 7 PM, by appointment. Read our full guide to Treasure of India and NAVRATNA or see the gallery’s events page.
2. Power employees’ strike leaves parts of the city without electricity
Electricity employees’ unions called a three-day strike from 22 to 24 October. On 21 October the Gurugram administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh, ordered contingency arrangements to keep hospitals, water supply and the Metro running, and directed DHBVN to restore supply quickly if outages occurred (UNI). Many residential societies and industrial areas still reported long cuts, with NDTV reporting around 3,000 complaints in 12 hours and several outlets describing homes without power, water or Wi-Fi.
Tip: register complaints with DHBVN and keep RWA groups updated, as many societies are running on DG backup.
3. Old RTR flyover closure jams NH-48
The closure of the old RTR flyover on the Delhi side left Delhi to Gurugram commuters stuck on NH-48 for hours on 23 October, as reported by The Hindu. If you travel to Delhi for work, check traffic advisories before leaving and consider the Metro where you can.
4. Good Earth marks 30 years with a new Gurugram flagship
Design house Good Earth celebrated its 30th year with a new flagship store in Gurugram designed by conservation architect Abha Narain Lambah, according to Architectural Digest India. Worth a visit for anyone interested in Indian craft and design, and it pairs well with a trip to Treasure of India for handmade art.
5. New hotels for Gurugram and Manesar
- ITC Hotels has signed a 104-key Welcomhotel in Manesar.
- ALIVAA Hotels & Resorts launched its third ALIVAA-branded hotel in Gurugram (ET HospitalityWorld).
6. Festive security across Delhi-NCR
More than 13,000 police personnel are being deployed across Delhi-NCR for Dussehra celebrations, according to News On AIR. Expect diversions near major Ramlila and Ravan Dahan grounds.
7. HT City Delhi Junction comes to Gurugram
Hindustan Times’ HT City Delhi Junction is live on 24 October across Delhi, Noida and Gurugram.
