Narendra Modi inaugurated KMP (Kundli-Manesar-Palwal) Expressway! Delhi got the fourth ring road known as Western Peripheral Expressway or (KMP) Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway. The total length of this highway is 136 kilometres and completed at the cost of INR 6,400 crore, it took 15 years of time to made this project.
This highway links to National Highway-1 (NH1) (Delhi to Panipat), NH-8 (Jaipur-Gurgaon-Delhi Road), NH 10 (Hisar Rohtak-Delhi Road).

This new Expressway will aim to reduce the heavy vehicle traffic in Delhi. KMP Expressway will reduce the heavy traffic by diverting approximately 50,000 commercial vehicles.
KMP Expressway has been developed over 2,846 acres of land, the land acquiring cost was approx. INR 2,788 crore. The new expressway will cover 5 districts of Haryana Sonepat, Gurugram, Palwal, Mewat & Jhajjar. The total length of KMP Expressway & Eastern Peripheral Expressway is about 270 Kilometers.
The Expressway has 8 small bridges, 6 large bridges along with 34 underpasses and 64 pedestrian crossings. Also, the six-lane expressway will have many refreshment shops, petrol pumps, a trauma centre, helipad, recreational facilities, parking space and police booths.
KMP Expressway: key facts at a glance
The Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway, also called the Western Peripheral Expressway, is a 135.6 km orbital road that lets traffic between Haryana, Rajasthan and points north bypass Delhi entirely. It runs as a pair with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal) on the other side of the capital; together the two form a complete ring around Delhi. The Manesar–Palwal section opened in 2016 and the Kundli–Manesar section in November 2018.
Why it matters for Gurgaon
For Gurugram residents the expressway does two things. First, it pulls tens of thousands of trucks a day off NH-48 and the city’s internal roads, since commercial traffic headed between Jaipur-side and Panipat-side highways no longer needs to pass through Delhi or Gurgaon. Second, it opens fast road access from Manesar: Palwal and the Agra side in one direction, and Kharkhauda and Sonipat in the other, which has shifted warehousing and industry toward the corridor.
Interchanges and connections
The expressway meets NH-44 (Delhi–Panipat) at Kundli, NH-9 (Delhi–Rohtak–Hisar) near Asaudha, NH-48 (Delhi–Jaipur) at Manesar, and NH-19/44 (Delhi–Agra) at Palwal, with intermediate connections for Farukhnagar, Jhajjar and Sohna-side traffic. From Gurgaon, the simplest entry is the Manesar interchange off NH-48.
Tolls and rules
It is a tolled road with FASTag accepted at all plazas, and toll rates revise every year, so check current rates before a trip. Two-wheelers and tractors are permitted, unlike on some access-controlled expressways, but the road is designed for 120 km/h car speeds, so ride with care. Fuel pumps and dhabas are still sparse on some stretches; tank up at Manesar or Kundli rather than counting on mid-route stops.
