Great News Gurugrammers! Gurgaon’s Tanishka Kotia ranks no. 2 in India in U-16 chess

International Chess Player (Tanishka Kotia) had traveled across Serbia for close to a month in July, playing three open tournaments in Paracin, Silver Lake and Nis.

Tanishka Kotia ranks 2nd in the country in the under-16 category, World Chess Federation released its latest rankings on 1st August 2019, a feat Tanishka accomplished after earning over 300 points in three back-to-back world open tournaments in Serbia in July 2019.

She played three open tournaments in Paracin, Silver Lake and Nis. Tanishka played 27 rounds in total against several title-holding international chess players. Tanishka now ranks 5th in Asia and 19th in the world. She is the only chess player from Haryana to have made it to the top 3 in the country.

She has been playing chess since the age of 3 years. Tanishka also won the Limca Book of Records for being the youngest chess player in 2008. She won the silver at the Commonwealth Chess Championship In 2014 in Scotland and won Gold at the ASEAN Chess Championship in 2013, She also played tournaments in Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Scotland, Czech Republic, and France. Tanishka is a 15-year-old student of Suncity School in Gurugram.
